We will be attending the annual meeting of the North American Strawberry Growers Association this December in Grand Rapids, MI. This years meeting is held a day before the Great Lakes Expo. This is a really good agricultural show for experienced grow

AC Wendy (Plant Pat. 18,340) Strawberry continues to look impressive with its early start and ability to hold its size. Only growers with the ability to frost protect should grow this berry as it is a sitting duck for frosty nights.

Looking Forward

2009 will certainly be a season to remember for its lack of heat.

Although it has been a poor season for our grapes and many vegetables, it has certainly been good for berry crops. Our nursery plants liked the cooler dry weather we had in Southwest Michigan. Crown size is large and plants look great. AC Wendy (Plant Pat. 18,340) Strawberry continues to look impressive with its early start and ability to hold its size. Only growers with the ability to frost protect should grow this berry as it is a sitting duck for frosty nights. Albion and Seascape continue to gain in popularity for home gardeners and farm marketers. Albion is certainly one of the best tasting berries we have ever grown. Cavendish-patented	Allstar	Clancy
A highly productive variety with large, firm, dark red and glossy fruit	Exceptionally large firm fruit that holds its size for the entire season is a characteristic of Allstar. The fruit has a long shape without the shoulders of other berries and are somewhat orange in color	Clancy bears its fruit in late June. The fruit is high off the ground which makes it less susceptible to the fungal diseases that usually attack late-season varieties.
